Sarah Downs

Sarah Downs

Sarah Downs is proud to call Springfield, Kentucky, home and is currently a fourth-year medical student at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She graduated from Bellarmine University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Biochemistry, earning Summa Cum Laude honors and graduating with the highest overall GPA in her class. At ULSOM, she has been actively engaged in leadership, serving as President of the Nutrition Club, Vice Chair of Family Day, Public Relations Chair of Project HEAL, and Social Chair for the Class of 2026. She is also actively involved in the Distinction in Business and Leadership Track, a program that equips medical students with advanced leadership and management skills. Beyond campus, she was honored to represent the state as a 2024 Kentucky Derby Festival Princess. Her volunteer work centers on addressing food insecurity, particularly through the HUGS Food Pantry at Norton Children’s Hospital.

Passionate about prevention and empowering others, Sarah founded Sweetie Pie’s Sweet Treats, a Kentucky Proud Certified bakery offering healthy baked goods at her local farmers market, and authored a digital recipe book, Made to Flourish, to help families make nutritious meals together. Through her personal initiative, Seeds to Success: Cultivating Kentucky’s Future, she promotes access to nutrition education and wellness resources for Kentucky families. She aspires to become a family medicine physician, where she can integrate preventive care, patient education, and community engagement into her practice. Sarah is deeply honored to receive the Dr. Bobby and Julie Baker Foundation Scholarship and is grateful for the support as she continues her medical education and service journey.
